Home - Journeys - Thailand 2023, November, December - Monday, November 20, 2023

We slept well last night with the family in Lat Krabang.
We get up on time and drink coffee.
Downstairs, Gunn sits alone behind his PC. He doesn't go to school today, there is no one to take him there, and apparently this happens often, we don't like this. Certainly not because we are leaving for Cha-am today. Gunn then stays home alone, but according to Moue that is not a problem, it happens often.

After showering we pack, that's done in no time, we will only be away for four nights, and maybe a few more if we go somewhere else and therefore don't go straight back to Bangkok.
We drive away at eleven o'clock. It is quiet on the road, also on Thanon Kanchanaphisek, the ring road. It is occasionally busier at driveways, but it is not too bad. The exit to Thanon Rama II, where there is usually a heavy traffic jam, is also not too bad.
But Thanon Rama II isn't fun to drive. An elevated road is being built on the first stretch up to and including Samut Songkhran, and that means a lot of construction work with narrow lanes, winding lanes and drivers who have difficulty with that, which means everyone.
After Samut Songkhran it gets better, from there we can continue quietly to Cha-am.

At half past two we arrive at the Bann Pantai Resort, where we can quickly check in.
Once we have cleared away the luggage a bit, we go for a walk along the boulevard and the beach. We notice that it is very quiet in Cha-am, few people on the beach, few people on the street and few people in the catering industry. Fortunately, the Café Amazon branch, where we always had a nice coffee on the last two visits to Cha-am, is still there.

We have a drink in the resort's restaurant, the Coco Buono Bar & Restaurant. We are hungry and don't feel like looking for anything else, so we stay seated and eat kung op wun sen (shrimp with glass noodles), along with another dish. It is also quiet here, we are the only guests. It also seems quiet in the hotel, but Pia has heard that it is almost full.
